Bita Shams

Bita is a Ph.D. candidate at information technology at University of Tehran. Before her Ph.D., She got her M.Sc. from University of Tehran in 2011, in medical information Technology. Throughout her M.Sc., she had comprehensive research on epidemic spreading in social networks and presented new approaches for epidemic growth estimation and limited-budget immunization.

Currently, the main core of her researches are recommender system and graph mining. Her Ph.D. thesis is entitled as “a network oriented approach to neighbor-based collaborative ranking” in which she seeks to design and exploit novel graph structures that represent users’ priorities and pairwise comparisons. She is also interested in other aspects of recommender systems such as shilling attack detection, preference elicitation, trust-ware and serendipitous recommendation.

Besides recommender systems, she has worked on other application of graph mining such as diffusion process, community detection and ranking algorithms.
